WARSAW, IN: The Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO) announces its launch of a new Medical Technology Accelerator Studio. The intention of the Medical Technology Accelerator Studio is to develop a robust pipeline of medical technology startups which will complement and advance existing product development and manufacturing capabilities in the Orthopedic Capital of the World®.
The community is capitalizing on its resources to facilitate future innovation through a partnership between KEDCO and NEXT Studios, a group of experienced startup founders. The objective is to build a sustainable MedTech accelerator program.
“Investing in the future starts now,” states Alan C. Tio, CEO of KEDCO. “By establishing a pathway for innovation in our backyard to support Kosciusko county and surrounding areas, we plant seeds of economic development to benefit our area for decades to come.”
KEDCO is kicking off the Medical Technology Accelerator Studio with several events, including a Discovery Week to be held the week of August 29th in Warsaw. Discovery Weeks are events held by NEXT Studios designed to pressure test ideas and help entrepreneurs establish a strong foundation for growth.
“More than 80% of all new jobs originate from companies under five years old,” says John McDonald, Managing Entrepreneur with NEXT Studios. “Supporting a supportive ecosystem to facilitate entrepreneurship is key to long-term sustainability. KEDCO is leveraging its resources to engage its community and its workforce to build amazing things to come.”
KEDCO is encouraging leaders in the community to get involved by participation in upcoming information sessions, identifing colleagues and coworkers to invite, sponsoring teams to participate, contributing ideas toward problem solving sessions, and serving as coaches and mentors to startup founders.
